The Mass Revolt – 5 More Predictions
2 CommentsOver 24 hours before the fact, RightPost predicted Brown would win. As we said before, the importance of the revolt in Mass cannot be overstated. Here are 5 more predictions that are a direct result of this election:
- The health care bill is dead in the water. The problem wont be the “progressives” (aka liberals), because at this point they will take anything they can get despite their previous protestations. The real problem is the moderates. They are now lacing up their track shoes to sprint away from the ambitious Obama-Pelosi agenda. The sprint began even before the polls were closed, with Democrats breaking ranks. Its simple self-preservation, perhaps the strongest of human instincts.
- Nancy Pelosi’s position as Speaker of the House is in serious jeopardy. Its not just her abysmal 19% approval rating, or the fact that she is ideologically way to the left of even rank and file democrats. She’s now toxic goods. She’ll be lucky to have the moderates in her party even answer the phone, much less tow the party line and march off a cliff. Her statement on the eve of the Mass election of “Let’s remove all doubt, we will have health care (reform)” will come back to haunt her. Her refusal to go back to the drawing board is hubris that makes even George Bush look like an eager listener. If the US Government were run like a company, heads would have to roll after such a poor performance. Pelosi’s will be one of the first on the chopping block – and rightly so. She greatly mislead her fellow Democrats, and the country. Other heads will roll as well, both in Congress and quite possibly the administration. If heads don’t roll it, will speak volumes about Obama’s lack of leadership.
- Cap and Trade is dead. Even more dead than the health care bill.
- Obama will pretend to “get it” and the administration will quickly pivot to jobs. But their approach to jobs will continue to be massive give aways to the unions – more money for teachers, firefighters, police, auto workers and government workers. Very little, or perhaps none of it, will actually create jobs. Small business creates over 82% of the jobs in America, but they will continue to suffer, and continue not to hire over fear of the coming higher taxes and regulation. Small business will continue to get a lot of lip service, but no meaningful help in terms of tax relief. With capital gains taxes scheduled to increase, there is little incentive for new private investment to help the small businesses that are running out of oxygen.
- Taxes will still go up. For every dollar given away to the unions, the same dollar must be taken from the 85% of America that is non-union. The threat of higher taxes and more government regulation will continue to keep investment capital (the lifeblood of our economy) in the deep freeze. Massive government spending only freezes it more.
All of the Democratic leadership that insisted that the losses in Virginia and New Jersey were “local” and “flukes” will look really foolish, actually dumb, if they continue to ignore this warning by the American voter. This was not the canary in the coal mine – that was the previous losses. Tonight was the foreman in the coal mine calling the CEO of the coal mine screaming “We gotta a really big problem here”. If the CEO doesn’t listen, he’s toast. And so is everyone near him.
